Below Grade Waterproofing Membrane
Using a membrane for waterproofing is very common among commercial and industrial construction projects. A waterproofing membrane is made with a thin layer of water-tight material that is laid over a surface to prevent water leaks or damage. Waterproofing membranes can come in either liquid applied or pre-formed sheets.
For below grade construction, waterproofing membranes are usually installed around the foundations like structural slabs and retaining walls of multi-storey and underground car parks to seal the structure from water penetration.
Your choice of waterproofing membrane should be strong and durable, but flexible and elastic so it can stretch to cover cracks and move with the structure. The membrane should be able to adapt to any shape it is adhered to, and be capable of turning up and over walls and other structural members. Bentonite as a waterproofing material in membranes is an excellent choice due to its unique water sealing properties.
